How Long Before You See Results

"How long before I can see results with my body from my training?" That’s a reasonable question if you are putting in some hard work in the gym and being disciplined at the dining table.

It takes about 2 weeks to feel neurological changes in your body. This means that you may catch yourself if you slip or run up the stairs with a greater spring in your step. Generally neurological results aren't seen in the mirror so if you are looking to see some changes in your musculature, you will have to wait a little longer. It generally takes 5-8 weeks of diet and exercise before you can actually measure significant changes in your physique.

Most clients want to know what they need to do to hasten the process closer to the 5 weeks to see results versus the 8 weeks and I always suggest that fitness seekers not focus on their reflection in the mirror but I understand those circumstances that predicate one’s concerns over self-image…like getting in shape for a wedding, beach vacations or a class reunion. So to speed up your time to notice results, be disciplined about your training and diet as well as maintain a progression chart or training journal. Maintaining a training journal is an easy method to keep yourself on the right path to being “in-shape” (or to get back on track if you falter). Review your fitness journal weekly and make adjustments to your training habits and areas of focus that you feel are in need of improvement...whether it is your diet, type of exercises, frequency of training or even intensity of your effort.

Don’t start an important and time-sensitive journey without planning the route to get there and regularly checking your direction to make sure you are going in the right direction. Chart your fitness and see your results of your efforts faster. With a little time, sweat and homework you will be seeing the results you had always imagined.
